Tranquility Bay is located just a quarter of a mile north of the Basil Jones cut, the last major navigable passage in the reef south of Reef Point. The Basil Jones cut has been utilized by man for over two thousand years, first by the Mayan Indians, and later the Spanish and English explorers. It then became a haven and hideout for English pirates who were preying on Spanish galleons. Later, Basil Jones played a role in Belize’s famous Battle of St. George Caye.

Most recently, the Basil Jones cut, and the crystal clear Caribbean Sea immediately in front of Tranquility Bay resort, have become a favorite fishing, sailing, snorkeling and dive spot. Our on site water sports team will help you enjoy and explore these natural wonders. We have both expert fishing guides and expert dive masters. Guests at most resorts have to take a boat ride for the best fishing, snorkeling and diving.  At Tranquility Bay is is at our front door.

Tranquility Bay Resort consits of eleven beautiful, individual beachfront cabanas and an exotic over-the-water restaurant and bar. The cabanas are furnished in rustic luxury. There are stunning beach and sea views from each and every cabana.

Our new restaurant and bar is named the Tackle Box Sea Bar in honor of the original “Tackle Box Sea Bar” that was destroyed by Hurricane Mitch in 1998.  Terrific fresh, local Caribbean cuisine will be served at the Tackle Box. In addition, your favorite cocktail or that famous beer of Belize, and ice-cold Belikin, will always be available.
