Xunantunich & Belize Zoo (BY AIR)

XunantunichBelize Zoo

Drive on the Western Highway for about an hour and a half passing many small colourful villages full of life. Arrive at the village of San Jose Succotz and take a hand cranked ferry across the Mopan River. Hike a mile up hill and arrive at
Xunantunich pronounced (Su nan tu nich).

The largest pyramid, El Castillo rises 130 feet above the main plaza and offers a panoramic view of the Cayo district and of Guatemala. On the eastern side of the largest pyramid is a frieze. The central mask represents the sun god, surrounded by signs representing the moon, Venus, and the different days. In the Plaza, there are three carved stelae found at Xunantunich.

Have a tasty Belizean  lunch in San Ignacio town and get ready to experience the best little zoo in the world.

The Belize Zoo is located on 29 acres of tropical savannah. It is home for over 125 animals all native to Belize. Come see Jaguars, Ocelots, Margay, Howler Monkeys, Toucans, Tapirs, and many more housed in their natural environments.

* All tours depart from San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. Enjoy a 15-minute flight aboard our Cessna Grand Caravan to Belize City Municipal Airstrip. Here meet your tour guide Mark Mc Field who will make you enjoy the Belize experience.
