Ambergris Caye does not have great big shopping malls but rather a few quaint little gift shops and street side venders that are more than willing to help you to take a little piece of paradise home with you. Shopping in San Pedro can be an activity on its own, taking a stroll on Barrier Reef Drive, where there are gift shops, clothing stores, jewlery stores, art galleries, or even just stopping by the street vendors to see the local wares. Woodcarvings, jewlery, and other nicknacks to send or bring home to family and friends can all be found on this street.

Most gift shops sell tropical apparel, eyewear, shoes, sunscreen and lotions and hats as well as the work of local artisans. These include local paintings, pottery, sculptures, handmade dolls, hats, baskets, beach chairs and hammocks.

Many gift shops are even open in the evening when the temperatures are cooler, and a lot of visitors will enjoy an evening out, followed by window shopping in the various stores!
