

From Belize City drive on the Northern Highway for about 31 miles and arrive at Altun Ha.
It flourished during the Classic Period as a major ceremonial center and as a vital trading post with other sites.
Here is where the largest carved jade object in the whole Maya area was found. The famous Jade Head or Kinich Ahau can be seen on every Belizean banknote.
