Goldson International Airport is the main arrival point for many travelers to Belize. However, some choose an alternative route, where their international flight arrives/departs out of Cancun, Mexico. Should this be you, the following will prove to be helpful.

If you are planning to fly to the Cancun Airport or travel by bus to from Cancun to Chetumal we can arrange or help with your plans as well. We can have a taxi company pick you up, with uniformed employee, upon your arrival, who specializes in fast and reliable travel services within Belize and neighboring cities in Mexico.

In addition, they are knowledgeable of trans-border requirements, and as such, you can be at ease with cross border travel. They will meet you at the ADO bus station (in Chetumal) or at the airport in Chetumal City. All taxis are equipped with air-conditioning systems to provide passengers with relaxing environs, capable of accommodating large groups, as well as single travelers.

To cross over from Chetumal to the main point Corozol, Belize and vice versa will take around forty-five (45) minutes. This cross includes the two borders and customs. You will need to have a valid Passport and a Mexican Visa for entering Mexico. Also a small departure fee is required when leaving the country of Belize.

Upon your arrival to Corozal, you will then have the option to take a boat or to take a flight to San Pedro. Please inquire as to the times and prices for these transfers, as the costs and times may vary depend on day and time of travel. We will be happy to assist you with booking these transfers, please check with us!

Once you have arrived in Belize City at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport, you will head through to Belize Immigration, collect your luggage and make your way through Belize Customs.

On the other side of Belize Customs someone will assist you with your luggage. It is at this point that you will either be escorted to your taxi or to your flight to San Pedro. There are 2 (two) ways to get to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

1. By Air- Once you exit Belize Customs, someone will escort you and your luggage to the domestic air terminal. It is better to pre-book your tickets (of course we can do this for you) to assure you of space on the flight. Although more expensive than traveling by land/sea, it also is only a 15min flight compared to 1.5-2hrs by land or sea. The actual rate of this flight is 63US pp/one-way or 120US pp/round trip. You will give your name, present your eticket), get your boarding pass, go through security and board your flight. These flights leave once an hr (on the 40min), and you will arrive 15minutes later in San Pedro. You can walk out from the airstrip to await your luggage, where there will be taxi cabs waiting to assist you to your destination.

2. Land/Sea – Outside Philip Goldson International there will be taxis waiting. They are usually cars /vans. You can travel by taxi (which costs approx 30US one-way) to your watertaxi terminal for San Pedro Belize Express located at Tourist Village. You will approach the terminal and purchase tickets at the rate of 12.50US pp/one-way or 22.50US pp/round trip. These boats leave every hr to 1.5hrs, and the travel time is approx 1hr. You can find a copy of the schedule on this website.

Schedules for the water taxi and flights are located in the Getting Around section of this website. Have fun in Belize!
