Over on thosefascistbelizeforums.com there was mention about a ban on driving on the beach.  The Boca Del Rio area seems to permit driving just fine.  Is it technically not allowed anywhere, or are exceptions made for places such as this where the only house access is via the beach.

Deadserious - I was surprised when my Taxi drove on to the beach to take me to a private home past Seven Seas, etc. I was startled, but my host drove me back the same way in their car. It's a short way, but the only way was the beach.  Huh

Same thing in boco del rio. It seems to be the way to get from the end of front street to the bridge. The posts are spaced just wide enough to squeeze a cart through.

For tourist there needs to be signs and golf cart places don't always inform them about the one way streets either.
WE need to be nice to tourist but we need to INFORM them.

There is a designated roadway along the beach in the Boca Del Rio area - the subdivision was designed that way as the beach lots don't have access to the road unless they go down the beach.  It is the only area on the island that has a legal road along the coast between the water and the beach lots.

Cheesy Here's the deal the golf cart toodling up the beach and a certain real estate logo on the side.(CB) And the agent was driving. Maybe driving a prospective client/buyer. But, why show them bad behavior? I wouldn't call a tourist a name. And I agree, who wants to catch flies with honey? What do you do with a sticky live fly? I say, swat them.

Mary has an excellent point!  The "rules" are very confusing - like which side of the road to park, where you can park, which streets are one way, etc...

The other day I was sitting in my cart waiting on my husband.  I guess his park job was not up to par, because the traffic police were there immediately to make me move the cart, like 2 inches (I really couldn't what the start or end goal was, but they were satisfied).  Shortly thereafter, a couple (newly arrived as evidenced by pasty skin) on a golf cart stopped and asked us if the fish street signs were pointed in the direction of the one way - they said "yes".  I had never heard this before, but seriously doubt it as I couldn't validate even the "obvious" one way streets.

These traffic cops clearly ignore taxis blocking drives and honking their nasty horns.  Not to mention the nut jobs driving too fast.  Guess it's just more fun to ticket those parking on the wrong side of the street.  I got to thinking this is not a very nice way to welcome tourists to our great little town.
