The other day I was sitting in my cart waiting on my husband.

That is probably something best done in private.

There's something wrong with this picture. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around.  Huh

Even locals get tickets for parking on the wrong side of the road... I think there needs to be a info sheet when you get off the plane, how to drive.... where you can drink in public... where you can use the beach and swim and things like that. One thing I found is tourist don't always know what they can and can't do. Everyone makes their money from tourist so they need to feel welcome. Just my 50 cents.

that's a great idea - but if it makes sense will government adopt the plan?

Having driving rules and what you can and can't do for tourists sounds good in theory. Tia Chocolate has a great post on her blog of rules of being a tourist that speak of respect for the people and place. I think (and it was the case in the situation I witnessed), I may be wrong; it isn't the tourists that are driving on the beach. It is locals. As a tourist, I can't remember ever getting off the plane and getting a list of does and don'ts. I don't think the tourists are the problem.

Our real estate agent took us from town to the Palapa Bar for lunch and drove on the beach through Boco del Rio. I didn't question it. I assumed he took that route because it was more scenic. There were ropes partly buried in the sand to act as speed bumps. There was minimal traffic and nobody was going fast. My guess is that the tourists go with the flow and just follow the traffic. I asked him about drinking and driving and I got the impression that driving with an alcoholic drink in your hand is a no-no.

I'm glad my cart has cup holders.  I wouldn't want to be caught holding a beer while driving.
