I have family coming down for a visit in April and they are possibly interested in flying from Toronto to BZE via San Salvador.

The flight from Toronto to San Salvador is on Lacsa and the San Salvador to BZE flight is on Taca.  The purchase is made through Taca for the entire itinerary though.

Does anyone know how easy the transfer is in San Salvador?  Is luggage checked through automatically? Do you go back through security to make the connection?

So no one has flown via San Salvador???

My brother and his family of 7 decided to skip the TSA mess and fly from Toronto to Belize via San Salvador for their visit in April, skipping the US entirely.  It's an 8 hour drive to Toronto, but for them it is worth skipping the TSA gaterape gropedowns.

I guess I will post their experience when the time comes.

I've never flown TACA via San Salvador.....but I believe the passengers stay on the plane while they offload those whose destination was San Salvador and loading those going on to Belize. No customs checks.

Call TACA's 800 number....I'm sure they'll help you out.

If that is the case, then that is truly awesome.

I'm pretty sure that is true of the west coast TACA flights,  Toronto requries chg of planes.  Don;t think there is an immigration customs clear.

San Salvador International Airport (SAL) is great, modern, comfy, plenty of bars, eats, great airport shopping etc. You'll almost certainly change planes in SAL. One of the nicest things about flying TACA is the booze is free.

Thanks Chris.

Their flights are booked and all is ready.

I'm happy to say that I'll be personally be responsible for bringing 12 tourists to San Pedro in early April.  Unfortunately, out of the 12, only 2 actually drink... fortunately, 3 of the twelve are big guys with deadserious size appetites.  So what we lack for spending in alcohol that week, we'll make up for in food.
