I was recently discussing with knowledgeable friends the corruption problems here, and we noted that most either start with government or government knows about them and deliberately turns a blind eye.  We were hard put to it to discern any benefit that government gives this country.  So, what if Belize dispensed with its government altogether and just had mob rule.  Would we really be any worse off than we are at the moment?

I'm a libertarian and I can still say with a straight face that government is necessary.  A national government is necessary to provide for a defense, enable and assist commerce and trade and establish and maintain infrastructure.  Outside of that, local communities are generally better equipped to govern themselves.
