"Rumours are reaching the Ambergris Daily that David Petersen, the developer of Sapphire Beach, and a US citizen,a project 8 miles north of San Pedro Town.It appears that this developer has finally upset his investors as they have banded together to find out what has happened to their investments, and he has reputedly had to surrender his passport to the US authorities. It appears that he is not allowed to travel outside of the USA."

I sure hope a lot of people listened to Peter's advise.  I did, but some didn't.  Go figure!!!

az, I hope everyone remembers all the grief he took on the other board because of this.   How does this now end up promoting tourism? Huh They'll flip out when I say this but at times he is the only sane voice in San Pedro.   Wink

Strange wording of the first sentence, but I know what it means.  I'll await developments - so far it may just mean that DP has simply run out of money, not an unusual story in today's economic climate.

I'm sure Marty has many qualities, but his total adherence to his advertising revenue is not one of his most attractive features.

I'd love to see a similar exposee of the activities of the developers of "The Sands", just to the south of the Yacht Club.  There's quite a story to tell there.

Peter, I don't know too much about the Sands but I told my wife long ago that it would not get finished for a long long time.  I feel sorry for anyone who invested there.   Sad

Especially for the woman who was punched when she had the temerity to ask what had happened to her money.

Yes, Peter, I would like to hear that one as well.  We'll try to catch up at Pedro's in Feb.

Reading the FAQs for the jailbase site, although David Peterson was arrested on 23rd December, that doesn't mean he's still in jail.  He could have been released on bail, or even discharged and the charges dropped.  That site shows only the initial arrest, and that record will be removed after 6 months and not according to any subsequent events.  For all we know he may not even have been held overnight.  We need more information.

He and his wife were arrested on 12/23 and 12/28 in Florida.  They were being held as a courtesy for the U. S. Marshals.

I presume you mean they were arrested respectively on those two dates?  Do we know what happened then?  Are they still in jail almost four weeks later, or were they released on bail or otherwise.  Have they been charged, or are they going to be?

There are 2 separate mug shots for both of them on both of those days.  I could not find any further information at this point in time.

How does one get accurate objective information in these cases?

So far, we can only go by what was posted by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Dept.

But the big question is what were the charges?
