I was following recent reports from Amandala about the recent approval for exploratory digging on the mainland and of course off shore.  It appears that it has been approved by the Prime Minister, and the Supreme Court.  Notwithstanding the sweetheart nepotistic deals already in place with a nephew, or future oligarchic arrangements that will surely surface, I notice on ACMB that one poster seems to think that a publicity campaign should be waged against US Capital Energy, the major US investor in the exploratory drilling.  You would think that the blame and outrage (if that is your inclination) should be placed squarely on the GOB and their cronies instead of taking a cheap shot at business who has been invited to do the work of the GOB.  Obviously taking shots at the US, or US businesses is more popular to some, than opening their eyes and placing blame on those truly responsible.  I'm sure the BTB will happily endorse that stance, as will the citizens of the US who were thinking about visiting the supposed apolitical, friendly island Wink

Nepotism and corruption not withstanding, I'm not necessarily opposed to drilling in Belize.  It could be quite a profitable operation for a small and developing nation.

I don't think it's such a bad idea either.  Moving men and machines will force the GOB to improve roads, dockage etc.  Hopefully some of that cash will filter down into the general population.............hopefully Wink
