Well I don't know if our "justice system sucks" but there are certainly injustices in the system.  I have seen this first hand.  If you have a good (usually expensive) law firm you get a different type of justice.  Same if you have "friends in the right place".  It is just the way it is.  Like any organizations they go after the low hanging fruit and if the resources spent against them is going to cost them time and money well maybe "we will use our time looking into some one else" let that one go.  I was one of a group of 9 covering the whole State and I was giving an assignment to get a certain problem under control.  A few months later at a meeting in front of everyone I was told to back off because I was using up too much of our legal resources with the amount of cases I was generating.  Just the way it works.

In addition my experience with judges and juries is really a story.  Some of the decisions which have big consequences for those involved are made for the goofiest of reasons.  Good stories to share a beer with.   Wink  In court in a loud voice I actually heard a judge say during a trial. We don't recognize that law down here or something very similar to that concerning a State law.  Then he dismissed the charge.  My department would have had refile and to take it to the next level at that expense of resource and time....Because one of our attorneys didn't like some of the wording in the law he was afraid that if we lost, the law could be thrown out altogether with a Superior Court finding which could be used as a precedent and a new law would have to be written which would taken a ton of effort and time. Then presented to the legislators who would take more time and god knows what the end result would be.  Not to mention that this was a license law so we would have lost the revenue that this license generated.  First rule of enforcement, do not lower revenue.... Wink  Oh the stories......... Roll Eyes   Don't set up a system of paying by credit card.  Yes that would make it easy for the citizens but we would lose the 2 or 3% charge from the CC Companies....can't do that even though you would get better compliance.

Good to be retired.  Grin
