OK,"often" is an exaggeration.  But I've experienced those sorts of winds here several times since I've lived on AC.  The highest winds I've seen reached 140mph during Dean in 2007, according to a neighbour's wind gauge.

perhaps the neighbor had his other "foot" on the guage when you werent looking! Grin
