Lawyer confirms President Obama's half-uncle arrested by Framingham Police

Driving under the influence and also in the country after being ordered deported.

No problem though, when questioned if he wanted to call a lawyer he said he would call the White House.  He should be alright.  Aunt Zeituni was illegal and they put her in a housing project with all the free stuff gave her status and allowed her to stay.  What a country.  Wink

Interesting but this law was signed in June of this year and is not fully in effect.  Let's wait a year and then judge whether it is necessary or not.  I and my son had to take a drug test to get employed so why shouldn't some one applying for welfare?  I have no problem with the government paying for the testing either. In the city I'm now living in most of the crime and drug activity takes place in and around the projects so on the surface it sounds like this makes sense. I would bet that is Representative to a lot of cities. Wink  I guess part of problem is the guys that these girls bring into there homes and there should be some repercussions for a druggie living in their home.  Sad

In addition I should add that if you read the police reports the addresses of the arrested suspects in crime in other parts of the city, a good number come from the projects. Shocked

What makes you think the statistics will change?  You right wingers are hopeless.  so willing to spend the taxpayers money pursuing your hypothesis.....even if it's wrong.  Anyone who has been to Florida and seen the poverty in the inland knows those people are too poor to be on drugs.  If all goes well floridians will impeach this clown before he really screws up.
Besides, Rick Scott's wife has the ownership of the largest drug testing facilities in the state....if all goes well he'll make millions before they throw him out Wink

Michael, Michael, Michael The fact along that the study shows only 2% would lead most thinking people to realize that there could possibly be something wrong with this study due to the aberration of the data. Such as incomplete data or maybe only the person in the family who is clean of drugs is showing up to rent or maybe it is keeping the druggies away as intended.  That's an idea, maybe the law is working.  Grin  With this Presidency falling apart due to his flawed policies you are coming unglued.  Please take it easy I'm beginning to get worried about your health.  Wink

From article you quoted:

Quote
However, recent data from U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services showed that in the population above 12 years old, 8.7 percent use illicit drugs, and 6.3 percent of people 26 and older use drugs, compared to the demonstrated 2 percent of welfare recipients in Florida.

Mike, I just found the answer on the "other" board.  Cheesy

THE REAL PROBLEM WITH OUR GOVERNMENTAL SYSTEM - - - -

The folks who are getting free shit,
Don't like the folks who are paying for the free shit,
Because the folks who are paying for the free shit,
Can no longer afford to pay for both the free shit and their own shit.
And,
The folks who are paying for the free shit,
Want the free shit to stop.
And the folks who are getting the free shit,
Want even MORE free shit on top of the free shit they're already
getting!
Now..... The people who are forcing the people who PAY for the free
shit,
Have told the people who are RECEIVING the free shit,
That the people who are PAYING for the free shit,
Are being mean, prejudiced, and racist.
So .... the people who are GETTING the free shit,
Have been convinced they need to HATE the people who are PAYING for the
free shit by the people who are forcing the people who are PAYING for
the free
shit and GIVING them the free shit in the first place.
And - - - - - that's the straight shit!

Feel free to "triple" the present statistic...then calculate the government cost of drug testing to the budget.......small government my ass...they're paying the governor at the tax payers expense...standard Republican economics ...penalize the poor....pay the rich....Wink

Oh wait...this just in Wink

Well he may have a vested interest but he may also have more knowledge than others in this matter.  I would like to see the result of data after a year or so.  Better yet I would like to see other States adopt this policy and see how it works for them.  Then we will get the answer of what is better for the taxpayers and the others who have to live around the trouble makers.

So many times in my life I've seen good ideas thrown out because some one may profit.  I'm more interested in the public good.  Having said that I wish that Governor Scott would have found another avenue to accomplish this but I guess he was damed no matter what he did on this subject.  Wink

One time an organization I belonged to had a meeting on whether to rent out a hall and a kitchen to a private person to run as a restruant.  The main objection was that he would make a profit.  Therefore the hall and kitchen lie idle most of the time year after year because of course none of the members will volunteer to run it. God forbid some one makes money on their work or good idea.  Just saying..... Wink

How the hell would a multi millionaire have knowledge about drug abuse amongst welfare recipients?  The bastard lives in an exclusive neighborhood in Naples! He just listens to Hannity and ASSUMES all poor people are on drugs.  What a f##king idiot!  If he'd ever been in Lehigh Acres or East Fort Myers he'd know OBESITY is the real issue.

Jim, you're beginning to piss me off with that Hannity mantra that all liberals think profit is a bad word.  Wake the f##k up.  there's shit loads of wealthy liberals.  Profit isn't a bad thing....unless your the governor and pass a bill that pays your company millions at the expense of Florida taxpayers. I expect a Soatlantic IPO any day now.  the guy is padding his own pocket.

give the welfare folks diabetes tests and put the fat bastards on a diet.......they'll buy twinkies before they buy drugs...........at least in the rural areas.............the inner cities are a different story Wink

OK, if you say so.  He's a f......idiot multimillionaire who didn't know his customers or the industry, didn't know nutin.  He was just lucky. I got it.  Wink

I've had many liberals call me lucky as a matter of fact.  Hell I retired the first time at age 45, went sailing for 5 years with my family.  Own a place in San Pedro.  You know what? The harder I work the luckier I get.    Roll Eyes  Disclosure: my father was a fireman who never made more than $12k a year in his life. I guess I was just lucky.  Roll Eyes

Now you know who is smart?  Obama, he's smart.  Here we are in a bad recession and he serverely limits oil drilling in the Gulf and Alaska.  He bad mouths business for 2 years. He wants to increase taxes, regulation and increase health care costs on business.  And then when unemployment is almost double digits for how long??? he says he is now going to focus on jobs, he'll have a plan ready by next week.  Man he is a smart one.   Huh
