Not long ago (on another forum) their was heated anti US discussion concerning the DEA putting Belize on the "Blacklist" for drug trafficking.  We all know drug use is a fact of life and that the US consumes more than their share of illegal substances.........big deal.  The fact that Belize is profiting from moving those illegal substances through their country is nothing new.  Belize is a poor country ruled by oligarchs who could care less whether the people have a place to sleep or something to eat which makes it ripe for drug trafficking.

After a short review I discovered that EVERY COUNTRY between Columbia and the USA is on the black list...welcome to the club.

The poorest country on the list is Honduras.  Poverty is the problem, not drugs.

Never argue with a fool.  They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yes, I read that earilier today.  It upsets me that it is so close to Belize.

From that article:
Quote
And in San Pedro Sula, local gangs moving drugs north have spawned armies of street-level dealers whose violence has given the rougher neighborhoods of the northern industrial city a homicide rate that is only comparable to Kabul, Afghanistan.

Not sure I agree totally with you conclusion. (as usual)  Shocked

Geographical position of Honduras as well as a corrupt system of government which partnered with the unions.  As the article points out it is about impossible to fire a policeman or anyone else.  Of course the poverty with and education level doesn't help.  (them union teachers, again)  Wink
