You have got to be kidding me -you have got to be off your trolley to stay across the lagoon-the restaurant is not open all the time-it is almost impossible to get to-only by boat and the boat runs very infrequently-plan on being a hermit for the week-virtually empty all year

No tv -no nothing and you cannot swim in the lagoon due to bitey type maggots

Brama Blue should close down till it can operate like a resort-many people have booked in and unlike the hotel california they book out the next day and go and stay somewhere else on the island.

Brama has also never sold a week of timeshare-their op lasted 4 weeks

OK, now I understand about this property. I've only heard about it - never saw it during my visit in February. Probably won't check it out since I"m staying at Pedro's Hotel in July. Gela

I happen to love the Blue Lotus restaurant.  It is one of my favorite places to visit while in Belize.  The food is terrific, if a bit over priced and the embiance is amazing. Unfortunately, the menu was completely revamped when we went this time, and for the worse.  Their delicious Butter Chicken was still on the menu, but most of the other amazing Indian dishes were replaced with Asian and Belizian fusion items.  I miss their old menu tremendously.

We also took a walk around the Brahma Blue building as we had heard fairly bad things about the development, construction and service.  Our first impression was quite impressive.  The grounds are beautifully landscaped and there is a really nice pool.  The building also looks much better up close than it does from a distance.  The generator noise is a bit much though and quite an odd placement so close to the building.

It was also interesting to meet a few people who happened to be staying there.  They loved the seclusion and peacefulness of being across the lagoon.  They stated that while they can hop the free boat at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 in the evenings, they will also take them across whenever they want for a small fee.  I think it was $10 BZ.

I definitely had a better opinion of the resort after talking with them and seeing the grounds for myself.  It's certainly not for everyone, but if you are looking to get away from everything and like some good Indian food, then I don't see anything wrong with it.  It's just not where I would choose to stay.

The restaurant sucks, and when it is closed what do you do?

no shops

the pool is nice

the boat does not go through the night -so late nights in town are not an option

generator makes so much noise you might as well live on a building site

people who have arrived there have moved to town -

The girls we met were out on the town at night.  The boat captain gave them his cell number and they were to call him when they wanted to go back.  I'm sure there was some time restriction on it, but they were out well past 10 when we left them, so don't know what the restriction would be.

It is a place to go to get away.  You are right that if you are looking for shops, a bar on site and other town activity, you wouldn't want to stay there... but then again you wouldn't want to stay very far north either if that were the case.

The generator is very noisy.  I agree.

But I couldn't disagree more about the restaurant.  I understand the hours suck, but the food and service is both outstanding.  It's one of my all time favorites actually.  If it weren't so pricey I'd probably be over there several nights a week while on the island.  But at those prices, I tend to limit myself to only once per stay.

the discos close at 4.00pm

late is not 10.00pm

What happens if the boat driver falls asleep or the boat breaks down

there is no recourse-if you live/stay north you can get back albeit with great difficulty by using the road

I am busy compiling a list which I will put on my web site of why you should stay in town/south of grand caribe or indeed just south of town

so, you'd be stuck with eating at THEIR restaurant breakfast, lunch & dinner (and no bar?), on their schedule - unless u pay $10US round trip? and if u need to go to the grocery - that's $10 r/t too?

that'd kinda suck...

Well, it is a condo, so you can eat in for breakfast and lunch.  We often do that when we travel.

Like I said though, I probably wouldn't choose to stay there, but I can see why some people do.
