Obama declared a national emergency this weekend...I still don't know anyone who's had the flu, or even a bad cold this year.

I had a bacterial infection in my throat.  Worst I've had in years.  I was pulling for the swine flu, but returned from the doc very disappointed.

I guess no more gargling bacteria for me.

He's looking for a distraction, any distraction from the you pick it:

War in Afghanistan

Economy (Unemployment)

Growing Deficits

Health Care Takeover

AND MANY OTHER I COULD GO ON AND ON.

In the meantime his golf game is doing better and the Wednesday night parties are great.   Huh
And also you won't hear much about this on the main stream press.

Swine flu mortality rate is less than 0.045%.  That is lower than the normal seasonal flu.

Bring it on.

ds, exactly, it looks like nothing more than the normal flu cycle and has been since this all started.  The problem is what happens next time when a real threat comes along.  (The sheep that cried wolf)  baa baa

I think that by declaring swine flu a national emergency Obama has finally found a way to set up his FEMA detention camps once and for all.  What better way to trample the constitution and individual rights than by declaring a national emergency.......and move all the dissenters into tent cities fenced off with concertina wire!  Then he can begin his plan to seize power and convert America into a socialist nation. Grin

http://www.campfema.com/

"The National Emergencies Act passed in 1976 has some peculiar realities attached to it. In particular, as Wikipedia reports:

A federal emergency declaration allows the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to exercise its power to deal with emergency situations ... Typically, a state of emergency empowers the executive to name coordinating officials to deal with the emergency and to override normal administrative processes regarding the passage of administrative rules.

Got that yet? By declaring a national emergency, Obama invokes a set of laws that not only override important sections of the U.S. Constitution, but that also activate FEMA to take charge of "responding" to the emergency."

This is going to make a great Glenn Beck piece! Grin

DS, I think I’ll stay awhile.
Thanks beth, interesting article and “another crisis” that must be dealt with NOW!, Or we will all die!  For months the “pandemic” red flag has been flown by the World Health Organization, but there was no data to back up the allegations.  Now there will be, at least by the CDC: “The CDC stopped testing people for Swine Flu in JULY. Why? Because CDC assumed there was already an epidemic, and therefore more tests would be waste of time and money.”

Now any death caused by any “flu like” illness is counted as a H1N1 death.  Now, that’s really loading the data.  Self serving to say the least.

$7 billion, to drug companies is just the start.  It has been going on for months, but you probably did not know it unless you are close to the Public Health system.  Every State and County Health Department in the entire country has been stock piling gloves, mask, syringes, wipes and associated medical supplies in preparation for the “world wide pandemic” now called H1N1.  Not just file cabinets full, but warehouse space.  I don’t know the total number of Health Departments in the Country, but there are 3077 Counties.  Smaller Counties form Health districts, but larger Counties have their own Health Department.  The number, in any case, is significant.

He  meant it: “"As a nation, we have prepared at all levels of government, and as individuals and communities, taking unprecedented steps to counter the emerging pandemic," Obama wrote in the declaration,”

I have never been a “conspiracy” theorist.  In my opinion this is a “conspiracy of convenience”: i.e. Never let a good crisis go without getting credit for solving it.

It’s all in place:
Supplies are on hand
National Emergency
Vaccine flood gates open
Everyone is vaccinated
Crisis handled
President wins Nobel Prize for Medicine

Good luck.  Hope you are not one of the lucky many arriving with a fear of swine flu and leaving with a neurological disorder.

Vaccine is not available yet for the general population in Ontario. Only high risk individuals qualify. This means people who are likely to develop serious health problems from the H1N1 flu virus, including:

people under 65 years of age who have chronic health conditions

pregnant women

children between the ages of 6 months and five years

health care professionals and caregivers who are in close contact with people who might be vulnerable.

The general public has to wait another 2-3 weeks before vaccine is available for them.

http://www.hulu.com/watch/104536/nbc-today-show-sebelius-having-a-vaccine-%E2%80%98is-very-good-news%E2%80%99  Kathleen Seblius Sec. of Health and Human Services  Her interview starts at 2:35
She says, Let schools stay open it will be safer for kids.  People have to go to work and school is a safe place where kids can get fed (where they might not at home??) (It is safer to be exposed to kids with flu than to be home?)  This must be a really really bad flu.

Yesterday she also talked about vaccine shortages.  Imagine if this was a few years ago.  Think Katrina.  You know maybe H1N1 is Bushes fault.  They should explore that angle.
