Hello from Costa Rica!
I have had a lot of time to think on this trip and it has been great for me to get away from San Pedro.
Although it is admirable to have the let by gones be by gones attitude, we all should remember that the police have been involved and things are no longer so simple. As well, I have been put in a dangerous position.
As a result, I do believe it best that Saga find their own vet. I will not be posting on this board much any more because I know that too often what is written is misinterpreted, and many people will also not believe what I have to say. Anyone who would like to contact me please feel free to write me any time at my personal email
lauriedroke@gmail.com.
I also would like to clarify that in my previous post what I was referring to as "things I am seeing and hearing of Saga every day" I was referring to their effects on animals I am seeing, not on how they are treating me personally. I have been seeing suffering animals, whose owners are having a hard time finding me, and therefore help for their pets. This is what I was referring to. I know that this is a small island and we must learn to coexist. That is a good point that I will try to take to heart. I think the best thing is for us to coexist separately. I will continue to offer them free spay and neuter vouchers as my time allows, but other than that I think it best that we are not involved with each other. I feel much more at peace now that I have come to this conclusion and I hope it will bring some peace to others involved in this as well. I am looking forward to helping the communty in my own way now, through the San Pedro Animal Hospital and the San Pedro Animal Foundation. I know that some people will not like this, but I do have to look after my own safety and happiness as well.
Right now I am in a beautiful hotel in the cloud forest. We will be going on a twilight hike in a couple of hours. Tomorrow is horseback riding and a canopy tour.
The people here are so warm and friendly, you get the feeling that they really do live by the Costa Rican motto "Pura Vida." Pure life. For those of you who have never been here I highly recommend it!
