Word on the Street – According to sources in the ‘know’, Belikin signed 3 agreements this week to expand exports of Belikin Beer products into the United States. Long available in California, Belikin will now also be available in New York, Illinois and Florida. Word has it that other agreements should follow suit shortly.

More on this as information becomes available.

Do you think they actually ship bottles or or bulk or would it be a distributorship?  Just curious....  as the bottles are just so heavy.

Don't get me wrong I love a Stout or 6 while sitting watching the people and the reef, but they will have a hard time selling here with all the import competition. The price will have to be pretty good to win. It's like the wine in Italy, some of it just tastes better because you are sitting in Italy.

I wish them luck, but I'll still take my "fix" while sitting in good ol' San Pedro.

Here in Ontario, all beer from out of country - eg. Red Stripe, is sold at the liquor store in four or six packs,
and priced much higher than Canadian beer, so sales would be minimal.  I would buy Belikin, if it becomes available in Canada as a treat, but not as our usual weekly purchase.

There are too many great beers in the States to compete with.  Besides the Belikin bottles are way too small for serious beer drinkers Grin

The only way it could be viable would be for it to be brewed there under licence.  But although the national beer brands in the US are IMHO undrinkable, there are some superb locally-brewed beers.  Belikin is in absolute terms a pretty average beer, better than a lot of what is available in the US but nowhere near as good as the best brands.  I don't see it happening.

Budweiser, Coors and Miller aren't what I'd call a "great beer". Grin

Sierra Nevada, Alaskan Amber....etc.....would fall into the great beer category Wink

Sierra ranks up there IMNSHO.  Can't speak to Alaskan Amber ( is that the one with SP's face on the inside of the label? Smiley )  but if you want to send me a sample, Clover, I'd be happy to render an opinion.

I'm pretty sure the Belikins sold in CA are imported as bottles.  I recall the cases being the same as those sold at duty free at BZE.  I can't see bottling under license with the small qty we all seem to agree would be consumed.  No one in his/her right mind sees it being a player, but more of a novelty, or part of one of the beer-of-the-month clubs.

Bud, Coors and Miller Lite aren't even what I would call average beer. They serve them so damn cold to numb your tast buds so you don't really taste them.

There are so many micro brews now it would be impossible to name a best one. I love the variety we have now. Prices are decent. I am particular for Shiner, but I really do not consider it a micro brew anymore.

Colorado has some great micro's. California, Mass, and several other states has numerous great micro's too. Hell, it's getting to be a treat to travel the states and drink micro's.

Sierra Nevada is 40 miles from my front door.  I built the brewery for Ken in 1989........it's nationwide now.  (I still drink on the house Grin)

Hmmm - Free beer and a 40 mile drive, not a good combination. Hope they let you stay in the back.  Cheesy
