Jane West posted this on the other board today:

"my understanding is that, as of today, the clinic at Saga is closed indefinitely.

my understanding is that the island vet will not treat the saga animals or those of saga supporters. animals that do not have wallets will not be treated.

10 years of good for no reward but the the sake, welfare and safety of the animals - POOF - gone. this is just not right, people...."

Can anyone is SP verify this?

Total garbage.  SAGA is fully open and I expect it to remain so.  SPAH is in fact treating quite a few patients referred from SAGA, and Laurie remarked yesterday that she was pretty busy.

I have been demonised for trying to show up some of these rabble-rousers for what they are.

Marty, who runs/controls the other message board, is clearly with the rabble-rousers and is suppressing or mocking comments that go against his prejudices.  But (so far) he hasn't actually removed their posts, or the threads that contain them.  There are several current or near-current threads on the SAGA saga.

I see that, thanks Peter.  I figured Jane could not help herself and had to make that fear-mongering passive aggressive post, just like that pesky Collette Kase with the 'poisonings will resume if SAGA doesn't get a vet!" garbage.    It looks like the San Pedro Animal Foundation could use some donations so Laurie can recoup some expenses if she's going to do some pro bono spay neuters on the stray and low income animals.  I hope she will do those - but we need to support her by donating to the non-profit if that is the case.  I guess we'll find out sooner or later how things end up playing out with regard to the needy furry patients  on the island.

How would Collette Kase know anything?
Maybe how to Rabble Rouse-
she used to email and phone the vet everyday and tell her how to do her job-this did not last too long

I think Colette believes she is smarter than everyone else... maybe she's just louder.   I take more issue with Jane putting up that original post that was blatant lies and just inflammatory as heck - of course Marty jumped right on that bandwagon and got his slurs and dumps in.  It is much easier to do that than have open reasonable discussion.

This has just been posted on the other board by someone who calls themself "humane society" from Caye Caulker, presumably the woman who runs that organisation virtually single-handed.  I'm not sure who she is though I have an idea.

Michael Fox is currently having severe heath issues,,,he has been out of Country may be back now I dont know. We took alot of advice from SAGA when we started..always on the agenda was proper books. The books have to be kept if you are a non profit...you have to turn in reports yearly prepared by authorized preparers. Private Veterinarians have no clue, nor do they usually participate in the 24 hr a day on call...emergencies..stray round ups..education..poisonings..dealing with the poor..I work at running my business about 12 hrs a day..add in the animal care another few ..as do our few other volunteers,,,
I have to say most other Vets in the country are willing to help out, they are out to make an income but will always try their best to give free advice and help when they can.
The private Vet on San Pedro, well mabe its because shes a non Belizean..but my God its all about the money...we were approached to use her services and it was all about the money and dumping on SAGA...so sad....hard to listen to when you are talking to someone that dosnt get paid for anything for caring for the animals....fostering, our plight here on Caye Caulker is minuscule compered to San Pedro....
However it rewarding..we make a huge difference here..we help..we take the time to listen and care..All the Humane Societys and their Vets are a Family..as are most the private Vets in the Country...San Pedro is a fast town..it also has the only Vindictive Vet..go figure?Huh

I talked to Miss Cooper in Caye Culker and said Laurie was prepared to go over and help for a 30% discount on SPAH's fees-she said she understood, and said she hoped we could work together

When Laurie worked for SAGA the charges for spey and neuters ranged from 50-150bzd-her charges are now 100-200bzd not including a 30% discount for humane societies.

Lets face it there is not much difference and Laurie would stay the night(admittedly at my hotel -without air but I will probably have to put it in one room for her),and check all the operations the next day.

Miss Cooper has been imo given another agenda
